Wolf Gold

Wolf Gold review

Inspired by the captivating wilderness of the West American desert, Wolf Gold was what earned Pragmatic Play the award of Best Slot Game at the Malta Gaming Awards 2018. So what makes this slot, with its flashy yet simplistic graphics and standard 5-reel setup, so special? Read our full review of Wolf Gold slot to find out more about this game’s bonus features and jackpots, before giving it a try at one of our UK casino sites.

Wolf Gold slot features

Wolf Gold is a 5-reel slot with 25 paylines which will instantly remind you of those flashy land-based slot machines. It’s got adjustable coin values and a turbo spin option which will come in useful if you don’t like to wait for the reels to come to a halt after you spin. Symbols include the usual low value J, Q, K and A, and higher-value brown stallions, tigers, bald eagles and buffalos, the latter being the most rewarding symbol that pays out 20 times your stake for a 5-symbol combination. The wolf is the wild symbol and lands stacked on the reels to replace all other symbols except for the standing rocks scatter and the full moon bonus symbols. These moon symbols are given a random value each time they land, or else they appear with the Mini or Major Jackpot values to award these two jackpots.

If you manage to land on 6 of these moon symbols, this is when you’ll trigger the Money Respin feature in Wolf Gold slot. In this case, all the standard symbols will disappear from the reels and you get 3 re-spins during which only the moons that triggered the feature are visible. If another moon symbol lands during the respins, it will remain in position and the respins reset to 3. This round continues until you run out of re-spins or until you manage to fill up all 15 positions with a moon. In this case, you’ll win the Mega Jackpot that amounts to £250,000 if you bet the maximum, otherwise you’ll win the total value of all the moon symbols that have landed during the respins.

Wolf Gold slot free spins

To trigger the free spins feature in Wolf Gold slot, you need to land scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5. You’ll start with 6 free spins, during which you’ll get giant 3×3 symbols that fill up reels 2, 3 and 4 and significantly improve your chances of winning. The free spins feature can be re-triggered with 3 extra spins if you land on another 3 scatters. Unfortunately, we were unable to trigger these free spins even though we gave the slot over 150 spins!

Where to play Wolf Gold slot

Wolf Gold min/max bets, RTP, volatility and jackpot.

Wolf Gold can be played by staking from 25p to £125 on each spin. The RTP is set to 96% and volatility is medium, as the game offers frequent base game payouts thanks to the stacked wilds. The bonus game is a little harder to trigger, but this is your chance to get the game’s highest payout of £250,000!

Wolf Gold slot graphics and sound

Wolf Gold will strike you with its flashy symbols and their vibrant colours that will remind you of traditional slot machines. We liked the music and sound effects the most though, as the American Indian panpipes combined with the animal sounds convey a sense of adventure that’s extremely fitting to the theme. The excitement is heightened by special sound effects as you edge closer to triggering one of its bonus features.

Wolf Gold slot – our Conclusion

We found Wolf Gold to be an entertaining and rewarding slot to play, and must say that it did exceed our expectations! The frequency of its payouts, the lovely soundtrack and the possibility of winning 3 jackpots all contribute to its success, and we can see why this game has been deemed Best Slot Game this year! The only downside to it is that the free spins are extremely hard to trigger – we have given it over 150 spins, and still no free spins! Maybe it’s just our luck, but still, payouts came frequently enough so that we managed to maintain our bankroll to more or less the same level. We’d say it’s a jackpot slot that’s not to be played solely for the Mega Jackpot or for the free spins, since there are enough rewards to keep you satisfied even during the base game. To try out other games featuring a similar theme, we aslo recommend Bluepring Gaming’s Buffalo Rising Megaways slot, another recent innovative release with higher volatility.
