Gods of Giza review
The site that now houses the Egyptian city of Giza was once the necropolis of several pharaohs. The tombs in this complex include the three giant pyramids, one of which is the famous Great Pyramid of Giza. These form a sight that has inspired awe for millennia, not to mention games! Gods of Giza is the Pragmatic Play take on this historical area, with a 5-reel, 5-row setup and unique mechanics.

Gods of Giza Symbols & Payouts
Gods of Giza features a 5-reel, 5-row setup, with symbols consisting of colourful gems and typical Egyptian symbols such as various gods and the Eye of Horus. These are used to form any of the 10 paylines available. These paylines are a bit different from those found in the typical slot, as they are either horizontal or vertical and can start from any reel or row.
The reels of Gods of Giza hold 6 different paying symbols, which are equally divided between the high and low pays. On the high-paying side you will find the gods Horus and Anubis together with the golden eye. The pink, green and blue gems make the low pays. The gold and red wild can substitute for all symbols except the scatter, which is a red gem set in gold. Land 3 or more scatters anywhere on the reels to trigger the free spins feature!
The 10 paylines found in Gods of Giza pay from either left to right on adjacent reels starting from any reel or from top to bottom on adjacent rows, starting from any row. You need to have at least 3 matching symbols in order to form a winning combination, and these need to land on the same row or reel. Forming a winning combination triggers the tumble mechanic, something we will further explain later on in this review.
Min/Max Bet, Autoplay Option
The minimum bet in Gods of Giza is set at 20p, while the maximum can reach up to £100. You can access the autoplay controls from the button found underneath the spin button. Here you can set the number of spins you want the game to play automatically, which start from 10 and can reach all the way to 1,000.
Gods of Giza RTP
According to Pragmatic Play, the return to player (RTP) of this slot is 96.01%.
Gods of Giza can be described as a high volatility slot, with infrequent yet potentially big wins.
Jackpot and/or Maximum Win
Gods of Giza does not have a jackpot prize, and the maximum win is set to 5,000x the bet. If a spin’s total win reaches this amount then it ends immediately. In this case, the prize of 5,000x the bet will be awarded and any remaining features forfeited.
|Tumbles Lead to High Volatility
|The Tumble mechanic – which removes winning symbols and has new ones drop in their place – can bring some potentially big wins. However one has to point out the win cap, which is set at 5,000x the bet.
The key feature found in Gods of Giza is the tumble mechanic. Form any of the 10 paylines and the winning symbols making it will be removed from the reels. This can lead to big winning combinations, especially if combined with the multiplier wilds!
The symbols making a winning combination will be removed from the reels, leading to any remaining symbols to drop to the bottom of the screen. Following this new symbols are added from above. If this leads to any more winning combinations then the tumble process repeats until no more new paylines appear on the reels. You can check the spin’s tumbles in the table found on the bottom left-hand side of the screen.
Wilds can substitute for all symbols except the scatter. They will also remain on the reels if they make part of a winning combination for a maximum of 3 subsequent wins in the same spin. A wild will eventually explode like the other winning symbols once it reaches its third payline.
It is important to note that at least 1 wild appear on the reels following a winning combination. In addition, wilds can carry a random multiplier of either 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x, or 10x. This multiplier is applied to all winning combinations that wild is part of. In case a payline has more than 1 wild then their multipliers are multiplied together! A wild can also be part of multiple paylines, further boosting the game’s win potential.
Landing 3 scatters anywhere on the reels awards you with a round of 10 free spins. Any more scatters landed on the triggering spin will add 5 free spins each to the total, and since you can land a maximum of 25 scatters you can get up to 120 free spins. During the free spins at least 1 wild will land on a random position on the reels before any tumbles take place. Speaking of the wilds, these will remain on the reels for 5 consecutive winning combinations before exploding. Landing 3 scatters during this bonus round will bring you 5 more free spins. Do note that the free spins take place on special reels.
Where available, you can pay to trigger a round of free spins. This costs 100x the bet and will cause 3, 4 or 5 scatters to land on the next spin.

Spin the Reels Like an Egyptian
We’ve perhaps played too many Egyptian-themed slots here at Casino Hawks, meaning that initially we weren’t too impressed by Gods of Giza. And while this Pragmatic Play number is indeed a bit simplistic, it soon reveals plenty of charms through its unique paylines, and a good tumble feature always manages to cheer us up. As such, this makes for a surprisingly entertaining entry in what remains an extremely popular genre.
