The most popular ice hockey leagues to bet on
British ice hockey fans follow a number of ice hockey leagues, both nationally and internationally. Here are the most popular ones on which you’re likely to find ice hockey betting odds:
Elite Ice Hockey League
This is the highest level ice hockey competition in the UK, which started out in 2003. Eleven teams take part in the EIHL, from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Last July, the EIHL confirmed the competition structure and released the fixtures for the 2018/19 Elite Ice Hockey League season. The games kick off on Saturday 1st September 2018, when the Sheffield Steelers will play against Nottingham Panthers. The league will consist of 11 teams and remains split into three Conferences, the Gardiner Conference, the Erhardt Conference and the Patton Conference. Like previous EIHL leagues, the teams will play against each other six times, three at home and three away, which makes a total of 60 games each!
The Challenge Cup Final will then take place on Sunday 10th March 2019 at the Ice Arena Wales, Cardiff.
If you’d like to bet on the EIHL, then this is the time to place your outright bets. You can find EIHL betting odds on the Regular Season winner at Paddy Power Sports. Click the link below to register and get started.

Ice Hockey betting tips by CasinoHawks
No matter which ice hockey league or game you intend to bet on, we’ve prepared some tips which improve your chances of securing a profit from ice hockey betting.
Make over/under bets – this is possibly one of the best bets to place. One of the most widely used over/under bets on ice hockey is 4.5 to 5.5 goals. Of course, while making this type of bet in-play, it’s worth paying attention to the goals scored by the two teams, the ice conditions, and the number of goals in previous matches.
Bet on draws – The chance of a game ending in a draw has become greater lately. Odds on draws are almost always over 3.80
Go for the handicap bets if you’re betting on the favourite – odds on a favourite will naturally be quite low, but if you place a handicap bet on the favourite and the team wins even by that handicap, your profit will be higher (although of course, the bet is riskier).
Consider player injuries and motivational factors – The absence of a key player may affect the game, but one must remember that since success in ice hockey really depends on team play, player injuries should not be seen in isolation. For this reason, it's best to think about a missing key player on a case-by-case basis, and to consider other factors such as opponents and motivational factors (such as whether or not a team has lost the previous few games). Another thing to consider is how tired a team might be, especially during the NHL. Look for teams who have just made a long journey or who have been playing too many games in the space of a few days.
Get to know the goalies – Goalies are crucial in ice hockey. Sometimes, during the NHL, teams have to give their best goalie a break and use their second or third choice instead. In this case, it might be safer to bet on the team using the first goalie.
Compare ice hockey betting odds offered by different betting sites – this tip applies to sports betting in general. It's advisable to sign up with several online betting sites in order to be able to compare their odds on the same bet. In this way, you could take advantage of the best odds for your particular selection, as these will vary slightly between one operator and another.
