The first Eurovision semi-final took place yesterday, and we're now pleased to update our visitors with a list of the ten countries and their acts that have qualified for the Eurovision Grand Final. Here they are, in order of announcement:
Those who intend to bet on the Eurovision 2019 winner should note the seven remaining countries that didn't make it to the final: these are Montenegro, Finland, Poland, Belgium, Georgia, Hungary and Portugal.
The second Eurovision semi final will be held tomorrow, 16th May, following which we'll have a clearer indication of who is most likely to win. Return to CasinoHawks for more updates, as the excitement is about to peak in Tel Aviv!
The Eurovision 2019 will start on the 14th of May 2019, and the Grand Finale will be held on the 18th. The two semi-finals which will be held on the 14th and on the 16th of May 2019. At the best betting sites, you will be able to bet on both the semifinals and the Grand Final. This year, 41 countries will participate, 2 less than last year (as Ukraine and Bulgaria both withdrew).
The most popular market for the Eurovision is the Outright Winner market. This means that you may bet on the country that will win the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, with the possibility of backing any country that's participating in the contest this year. On the betting sites that are offering these odds, you'll find a list of participant countries and the odds for each one to win. The favourite to win the Eurovision will always be listed at the top, as shown in the example below from William Hill in the screenshot below.
The below are the current Eurovision Outright Odds on offer at Betfair sportsbook, a well-established betting site that we highly recommend. So who will represent the UK in the Eurovision 2019? At the Eurovision You Decide 2019, held on Friday 8th February, the 21-year old Michael Rice was selected to represent the UK this year, with his song Bigger than Us. Since the UK is one of the Big Five, Michael will go straight to the Eurovision final.
Currently, the odds for the UK to win the Eurovision 2018 are as follows. Admittedly, things don't look too good but then you never know!

At the moment, the betting sites we've checked our offering very different Eurovision Outright winner odds. At Betfred, The Netherlands are listed as the favourite with odds of 5/2 at William Hill and 9/4 at Betfred (which means that if you intend to bet on the Eurovision favourite at the moment, it's better to place your bet with Betfair to get a slightly higher return). The Netherlands' entry will be the song 'Arcade' by professional Dutch singer Duncan Laurence, while Russia's (another country that's likely to win) a will be by 35-year old Sergey Lazarev. Lazarev has already represented Russia in the Eurovision back in 2016 and placed third with his entry "You are the Only One". This might be one of the reasons why Russia is currently among the favourites to win the Eurovision 2019.
Second favourite across all the online sportsbooks we consulted is now Sweden, followed by France. Italy is also ranking quite high up on the list; its entry will be performed by Alessandro Mahmood, an Egyptian-Italian who was also the winner of the Sanremo contest. Odds for Italy to win the Eurovision at Betfred are currently set to 12/1, while at William Hill these are being offered at 7/1.
One other entry which has pricked our ears is Finland's entry for this year, which will be represented by Darude. Darude is an award-winning producer and DJ whose hit record Sandstorm made him famous all over the world back in 1999! Darude will perform in the Eurovision 2019 with featured vocalist Sebastian Rejman, and given his fame, we expect Finland to be one of the favourites this year. At the moment, Outright odds for Darude to win are being offered at 50/1 at William Hill sportsbook - not very promising, frankly!
At the top of any Eurovision 2019 betting odds page, you'll find the least favourable odds, which means that you'll also get the lowest payout if you decide to bet on that country. This is because this country is currently being considered as the likeliest to win the Eurovision 2019. Although backing the favourite might mean that there's more probability of winning your Eurovision bet, betting on a country which is found lower down on the list will yield bigger rewards if its entry ends up winning the contest. So if you've got a hunch about a particular country well ahead of the contest, it might be well worth taking the risk of backing it while the odds are still high!
The below are a couple of online betting sites that offer (or will soon be offering) Eurovision betting odds this 2019. All of them are run by operators who own a license from the UK Gambling Commission, which means that they offer a secure and fair gaming experience.
Although we cannot tell who will win the contest this year, CasinoHawks has got a few tips for those who intend to bet on the Eurovision:
Listen to all the songs: Even if you're not a music expert, listening to the entries a number of times can give you a pretty good idea of who has the best chance of winning. If you to a song twice or three times, you'll be able to identify those catchy songs, and will surely end up with a shorter list of likely winners than you've originally started out with! Another bit of homework we recommend doing is to spend some time researching the singers; if you find out that one of them has a great track record and has already won many prestigious contests in his or her country, this might help you decide who you're going to back!
Do your homework early on: Sportsbook operators have the right to change Eurovision odds at any time. However, the fixed odds you secure today will still remain valid for you. This means that if you figure out which country is likeliest to win before the online betting site does, you will secure higher returns if that country does win, because the site wouldn't have changed the odds to reflect this probability yet!
Compare Eurovision betting odds: this is another important thing to consider if you're looking for the best value. When it comes to Eurovision betting, it's worth shopping around for the best odds if multiple sites are offering them on the same markets. This would help you see which site will give you the best return should you win your bet. Figuring this out is pretty easy: simply fill in the betslip at each online betting site with the same stake and view the calculated returns. Then, place your Eurovision bet with the site that would offer the highest return.
Make multiple bets: If you notice that there are two or three singers who really stand out, then it might be worth backing more than one entry and still make a profit if any one of them wins! Let's take an example:
You decide to place a £10 bet on 3 popular entries. If entry 1 wins, you'll get a £100 return, if entry 2 wins you get £50, whereas if entry 3 wins, you get £40. In total, you're going to spend £30 on your bets. However, if any of these entries win, you're still going to make a provit of between £10 and £70!
To do this we recommend shopping around as we described above, then placing bets with several sites on these two or three entries.
Bet on the top 5 or top 10 - Soon, some betting sites will be offering lower-risk bets allowing you to predict whether or not a country will finish in the top 5 or top 10. Although less favourable odds are offered on this market, it's a good bet to place on the Eurovision favourites closer to the date of the contest, given the good chance of securing a profit from this bet.
If you intend to bet on the Eurovision in 2019, we invite you to visit our website regularly in the next weeks to get updates and news that may have an impact on Eurovision betting odds, and to learn about promotions and offers that some of the best betting sites will be running on the Eurovision. In the meantime, we encourage you to start listening to those Eurovision entries to decide who will impress the most this year!
